Acid reflux is such a poorly understood condition by the medical society, that many people spend years trying out prescription after prescription with no success. When first going to the doctor complaining with heartburn or stomach pain, one gets a simple antacid drug and a “Don’t worry too much, it’s nothing serious”. After a while discomfort grows, prescriptions change again with no result and finally the doctor suggests surgery.
Why would you trust somebody that clearly doesn’t know what he’s dealing with in the first place?
I’ve had my share of doctors and medical bills and that’s about it… Doctors and bills… Years after I was first diagnosed, nobody could find a cause for my stomach pain so it was classified as a “stress disorder”. It turns out that although I was in high-school, I was so stressed out that I caused myself an ulcer and nothing could cure me but… surgery.
Back then surgery meant that they were just going to cut away damaged tissue from my stomach and esophagus. Luckily I didn’t ell for it and since then decided to ignore the medication and try the holistic approach.
Was it a smart decision? A few months after that I was already feeling much better. Guess what?… A change in diet and lifestyle is all it took to cure my acid reflux.
Is acid reflux surgery right for you? All I can say is that doctors can only make money by selling those antacids and putting you under the knife. Deciding what’s best for you though should be up to you.
